Yohanan “Nani” Demeke is a master’s student in development studies at the University of Ottawa, a program co-ordinator at the Somali Centre for Family Services, and a policy analyst at the Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment. She is also a children’s author and two-time UN delegate, focusing on advancing the socio-economic wellbeing of Black women across generations.
