A dual citizen of the US and Canada, Michèle Lamont was born in Toronto but lived in Quebec until age 20. She is a professor of sociology and African and African-American studies, the Robert I. Goldman Professor of European Studies and director of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard University. She has been named the 2017 winner of the Erasmus prize.
