Firms are choosing to automate and digitize, and they\u2019re turning increasingly to remote and casual work. Policy-makers have helped people and businesses through the early days of the crisis. But now it\u2019s time to meet the future of work head on.<\/p>\n<p>Today on the podcast, we have Natalia Mishagina, research director of the IRPP\u2019s new program on <a href=\"https:\/\/irpp.org\/research\/the-future-of-skills-and-adult-learning\/\">The Future of Skills and Adult Learning<\/a>. She\u2019ll be building on a <a href=\"https:\/\/irpp.org\/research-studies\/the-demographics-of-automation-in-canada-who-is-at-risk\/\">recent IRPP study<\/a> by Statistics Canada\u2019s Marc Frenette and Kristyn Frank to talk about who\u2019s at risk of seeing their jobs transformed by automation.<\/p>\n<p>Next, we\u2019re bringing on Sunil Johal to discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/ppforum.ca\/publications\/the-future-is-now-creating-decent-work-post-pandemic\/?sf_data=all&amp;sf_paged=2\">how policy-makers should meet the labour market challenges accelerated by COVID-19<\/a>. Sunil serves as a fellow to the Public Policy Forum and the Brookfield Institute. From 2012 to 2019 he was policy director at the University of Toronto\u2019s Mowat Centre, and in 2019, he was named chair of the Expert Panel on Modern Labour Standards by the federal Minister of Labour.<\/p>\n<p>Download for free.
