Achieving those goals will be easier said than done, and will require careful strategizing, compromise, and assertiveness on the part of each delegation.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/policyoptions.irpp.org\/magazines\/august-2017\/four-ways-to-keep-our-eyes-on-the-prize-in-nafta-talks\/\">article<\/a> she wrote as part of <em>Policy Options<\/em>\u2019 ongoing <a href=\"https:\/\/policyoptions.irpp.org\/magazines\/july-2017\/trade-policy-for-uncertain-times\/\">special feature<\/a> on trade policy, Meredith Lilly \u2013 holder of the Simon Reisman Chair in International Affairs at Carleton University \u2013 outlined a set of principles that she believes should guide Canada\u2019s NAFTA negotiating strategy.
