Jessica Kolopenuk (Cree) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Victoria. She is a pre-doctoral fellow at the Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta. On her mother’s side, she descends from Chief Peguis’ people (who are Cree and Anishinabe) from the Red River region north of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
